Most of these paintings are inspired by a particular place – the Prestongrange open air industrial heritage park in East Lothian. The site evokes a sense of mystery, with traces of human activity evident in the remains of buildings and rusting machinery. Scattered fragments from its mining and pottery industries are now beginning to merge with the landscape. The paintings aim to give a sense of the place.
